In the heart of the enchanting rolling fields, lived a young shepherd. His being was essentially unadulterated, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was mainly to look after his flock of sheep.

Their low murmuring and the rustling of the gales through the solo tree on the mountaintop were his main associates. Day after day, guarding his charges imbued in him a sense of calm satisfaction.

But, there were the occasional moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would pine for fellowship. On one such day out of sheer boredom, the shepherd boy conceived a mischievous plot.

Tales of predators hunting on sheep had long been circulating in the town. So, the boy chose to exploit this fear and played a trick on the townsfolk.

One click here morning he ran into the village shouting “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The scared villagers rushed up the hills to help but found no beast.

The boy chuckled at the dilemma on their faces. This prank persisted for a few days more. But, one noon, a real wolf actually come to prey the herd. The shepherd boy ran for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the town only to be met with a scolding on honesty and the results of crying wolf.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is difficult to reclaim. It's a story as pertinent today as it was then.
